Isang_Salita's Back in business

After a long long long long long long.. (ah, nevermind, you get what I mean)!

As I read the status of a friend of mine, I can't help but wonder why many people tend to rather forget past experiences that have not turned out the way they plannned them to be. I mean, yes, it hurts when one looks back at those experiences but, doesn't that justify the fact that those experiences should not be forgotten?

Memories exists simply because those are pieces of the past that happened to us. Most of these memories might be "forgotten" every now and then but given the time to contemplate, these memories will come flooding back with every bit of detail. So if a person tries to forget bad memories, what that person's simply doing is pushing that specific memory as far back as posible so that it would be forgotten in that person's everyday life. Although this specific practice seems to work in the short run but never in the long one. This is simply because even though the person has buried that memory as deep as possible in his or her mind, there are still things around him or her that will serve as a constant reminder.

In effect, all the effort to forget will be wasteless. So might as well live with all those memories. Let the good ones raise you up when in a bad situation and let the bad ones serve as reminders to yourself that you're now a stronger person compared to who you are before.

After all, it will all boil down towards a person's mindset. A person can separate memories as "good" and "bad memories or simply "good" and "not so good". It's hard to explain here but the point is, it will all depend on the mindset of each person if he or she'll take an experience and consider it as something worth forgetting or if it's something worth experiencing.

After all, one can't fully appreciate the good things in life without first experiencing the not so good ones :p
